SCAM ALERT!!! Please visit www.hhpd.com for more information on a scam that has cost victims thousands of money.
Recently ABC News did a broadcast on individuals that were scammed into wiring money to relatives they believed we in some sort of trouble. On the phone, the scammer sounded like the relative and most times had personal information about the victims. THIS IS A SCAM. Whether phone or email, you should always double check with that relative/friend with a separate phone call. You should NEVER WIRE any amount of money without confirming that you are indeed sending the money to the right individual. Email and Telephone scams have been a growing trend since the availability of information on the internet. Facebook profiles, photos, posts, etc along with other social media sources, there has been a wealth of sensitive information that could end up in the wrong hands. The old rule of thumb "It seems too good to be true", is what everyone should think when receiving that email that they're the beneficiary of an unknown relative or that they've won the lottery for millions in another country. ALWAYS ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION. If you think it is a scam, contact the police. We can always help you determine if the correspondence is indeed a scam. We will adding a new page on our site to address recent scams and what to look for.
