SMPD Investigating a Handgun Brandishing - No Injuries, Suspect Outstanding

Sunday, March 18th – 12:05am -

Late Saturday night to early Sunday Morning, SMPD Officers were called to the area of Alameda De Las Pulgas and SR-92 on a reported brandishing of a firearm. Despite an extensive area check by responding officers and a County-Wide “be on the lookout” broadcast to surrounding agencies, the suspect vehicle was not located.

The victim advised SMPD that he flashed his high-beams at a vehicle that had passed him to notify that vehicle’s driver that its high-beams were on. Both vehicles exited the freeway and headed south on Alameda De Las Pulgas, when the suspect driver suddenly stopped ahead of the victim driver in the area of the 2200 block of southbound Alameda. The suspect, described as a black male adult around 40 years-old, about 5’10 and with a medium build, exited his vehicle and approached the victim, pointing a handgun at the victim and yelling at him.  The suspect then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene in a newer, dark-colored Mercedes with a “possible partial License Plate of 6CF…”. The victim believes that there was also a passenger in the suspect vehicle at the time of the incident.

Investigators are looking for leads in this case. Any Community member having information related to the handgun brandishing incident which occurred in the 2200 block of Alameda De Las Pulgas on Sunday March 18th, at about 12:05 am (this would have been the night of St. Patrick’s Day) is encouraged to contact the San Mateo Police Department.
