HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – March 14th, 2012 – On March 13, 2012 Hollister Police Officers were dispatched to a report of an attempted robbery at Miller Road and Central Avenue. When they arrived they discovered a 16-year-old victim of an attempted kidnapping. The female victim managed to escape and is not injured.
At approximately 11:30 pm, Hollister Police Officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery on Central Avenue. They met with the victim who reported she was walking home near the corner of Miller Road and Central Avenue when an unknown male subject approached her from behind. The suspect placed a knife to her throat and told her to keep quiet and walk.
The victim walked westbound on Central Avenue while the male subject maintained a knife to her throat and his arm over her shoulder. The suspect did not demand money or anything else.
Upon reaching the intersection of Central Avenue and Matulich Court, the young girl stopped walking and elbowed the suspect in the stomach. She was able to get away. The suspect then ran from the scene and was last seen eastbound on Central Avenue.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, 30-35 years old, dark complexion, about 5’ 5”, average build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. He was clean shaven and spoke with a thick Spanish accent.
The Hollister Police Department encourages residents of Hollister to report suspicious persons and activity in the community.
