The Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department has an important message for you!

In 2009, author Oliver Broudy wrote "Dead Man Driving," a story that appeared in Men's Health magazine and became a finalist for a National Magazine Award in the "Personal Service" category. The piece, which according to the author is now required reading for students at the FBI academy, tells the story of Adam Labar, a 38-year-old father of four who was killed in a traffic accident on Interstate 81 in Franklin County, Pa. In the article, Broudy does an excellent job of portraying Labar's last living moments before his accident, intertwined with facts about traffic accidents, physics, and how the two relate to the human body during a motor vehicle accident. The article also touches on distracted driving and its dangers.

I would highly recommend that anyone who travels daily read the article, which serves as an excellent reminder about how precious life is. I would also highly recommend this article to parents who have a teenage child who is learning to drive, or has just passed their drivers test.

Please note that that link below leads you to the Men's Health magazine website. This is a men's magazine, so there may be advertisements/images that are not appropriate for younger readers. Viewer discretion is advised. Regardless, an excellent read and worth your time.

As always, be safe.
