Washington Police Department press release for January - March 8 posted on line.

The following is the activity of the Washington Police Department since the last press release. Any questions regarding this information can be directed to Chief Marshall.

01/01/2012 Chief Marshall observed a tree down into the primaries on Lincoln Dr. NH Electric Coop notified.

01/02/12 While conducting a house on Smith Pond Rd. Ofc. Corrigan found an open door. The house was checked and the owner notified.

01/03/12 A Bradford Springs Rd. resident requested the police investigate unflattering comments posted about her on someone’s Facebook page. Chief Marshall advised it was a freedom of expression allowed under the first amendment and there was no action to be taken.

01/03 1335- Chief Marshall responded to a disabled vehicle on So. Main St. A DPW crew had already assisted the driver and she was on her way.

01/04 1121- Ofc. Puchtler started the DARE program for this year at the Elementary School

01/07 1138- Ricky Fauteux, age 49 of Washington turned himself on a Bench Warrant from the Newport Court for failure to appear. He was released on personal recognizance with a Court date.

01/07 1749- A report was received of a child assaulting his father on E. Washington Rd. Arrest made.

01/08 1126- The DPW Director requested a local resident be spoken to about his behavior and lack of respect toward the Transfer Station attendants. Chief Marshall explained the rules.

01/08 1536- Chief Marshall was following a motorist up Faxon Hill Rd. when they ran out of gas. He gave them a ride to get a gas can and gas.

01/08 1607- A motorist reported he believes someone threw a soda bottle car as he was driving on So. Main St. A bottle was found on the side of the road, no suspects located.

01/09 1059- A residential burglary was reported on Valley Rd. Investigation underway.

01/09 1612- A Valley Rd. resident complained of an illegal junkyard. Ofc. Corrigan working with the property owner to get the area cleaned up and compliant.

01/11 1124- Ofc Puchtler taught the second week of DARE to the 5th graders.
01/12 0712- A crash was reported on So. Main St. The area was checked and nothing found.

01/12 1045- A town DPW driver reported an open door on an unoccupied house on Point Rd. Chief Marshall checked and all was secure.

01/12 1335- A truck driver from out of state was unable to negotiate various sections of Rt. 31 during a snow event. Traffic control provided until DoT could assist.

01/13 1759- A residential burglar alarm was received from a Bradford Springs Rd. home. Appeared to be operator error.

01/14 1733- Chief Marshall checked a report of suspicious activity at an unoccupied residence on Valley Rd. Nothing found.

01/15 1508- Ofc. Corrigan responded with Washington Rescue to a medical emergency on Cross St.

01/16 1231- A mother requested assistance with helping her daughter through a potentially dangerous situation. Ofc. Corrigan provided guidance.

01/16 1804- Chief Marshall checked a vehicle coming through town from Hillsboro reported to be operating unsafely. No improper driving noted.

01/17 1200- The three Elementary School Students of the Month went to lunch with Chief Marshall.

01/17 1718- An after the fact e-mail was received of a possible theft attempt on No. Main St. Due to the delay in reporting, no action was feasible.

01/18 0852- Ofc. Puchtler responded with Washington Rescue to a medical emergency on E. Washington Rd.

01/18 1118- Week 3 of DARE with Ofc. Puchtler.

01/19 1213- A motorist reported a vehicle operating unsafely and putting her in fear. Chief Marshall spoke with the parents of the offending operator and it will be addressed.

01/19 1613- Washington Rescue and Chief Marshall attended to a medical emergency on Bergweg Rd.

01/20 0720- Loose dog complaint on Halfmoon Pond Rd.

01/20 1050- Ofc. Corrigan responded to assist Rescue at a medical mutual call on South Rd. in Lempster.

01/20 1848- Chief Marshall, assisted by Washington & Hillsboro Rescues treated and transported a person with a medical emergency on McKinley Dr.

01/21 1421- Delivery driver assisted up a snowy hill on So. Main St.

01/21 2134- Unsecured door found at the School. Ofc. Corrigan checked the building, all was secure.

01/22 1330- Report of a moose apparently taken down by coyotes on the ice of Ashuelot Pond. Area resident called to come harvest the meat.
01/22 1702- Court subpoena served for the Hillsboro Police to a Valley Rd. resident.

01/22 2221- Michael Kelly, age 23, of Hillsboro went off the road with his 1998 and hit a tree on Valley Rd. He was wearing his seatbelt and not injured.

01/23 1126- Week 4 of Ofc. Puchtler’ s DARE class.

01/23 1641- Report of a vehicle off the road on So. Main St. near Bailey Rd. Gone on Chief Marshall’s arrival.

01/23 1919- Chief Marshall assisted DPW with a car stranded on the ice on Valley Rd. On its way without damage.

01/27 0216- DPW located a vehicle off Valley Rd. onto a rock. No one around the vehicle, Ofc. Corrigan located the owner later in the day and had the car removed.

01/29 1010- A resident of Harrison Dr. reported a stray dog trying to get over the fence into his yard. The dog’s owner arrived the same time as Ofc. Corrigan and took control of the dog.

01/30 1230- Ofc. Puchtler taught week 5 of DARE.

02/01 1038- Chief Marshall issued a burn permit on Valley Rd.

02/01 1812- Served a subpoena to a Highland Haven Rd. resident for the Antrim Police Department.

02/02 1544- A Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputy was assisted at suicide threat complaint on Mountain Rd. in Lempster.

02/02- 1744- The Library Director requested assistance in contacting several current or former residents who have absconded with library materials.

02/02 1903- Chief Marshall responded with the Fire Department to an active chimney fire on No. Main St.

02/04 1644- Chief Marshall checked a suspicious vehicle at a house under construction in Lake Ashuelot Estates (LAE). The owner was located doing construction.

02/05 1027- Responded to a panic alarm from a building on Halfmoon Pond Rd. Found the technician working on a new install.

02/06 1115- DARE week #6 with Ofc. Puchtler.

02/06 1328- Information from a Wild Acre Rd. resident about a lost wallet.

02/08 1340- Suspicious truck parked at an LAE. Ofc. Corrigan found a utility crew.

02/081938- Burglary alarm from an East Washington Rd. residence. Nothing found.

02/09 1620- A passing motorist reported a vehicle operating unsafely on So. Main St. The registration number provided did not match the description given.

02/10 1000- Suspicious meat salesmen were reported on Halfmoon Pond Rd. Ofc. Corrigan located and monitored them until they left town.

02/10 1109- A local resident requested assistance in locating gas before he ran out of gas. He was directed to the General Store, where he ran out of gas.

02/10 1612- Chief Marshall checked a report of people on an ATV stuck in a swamp off E. Washington Rd. On arrival the vehicle was out, but after investigation Chief Marshall arrested Brandon Bernier, age 20 of Antrim for Operating After Suspension and Failure to File Financial Responsibility. He was transported to the Washington Police Department, processed and released on Personal Recognizance to appear in the Newport Court. He was later charged with False Swearing and Unsworn Falsification after it was learned he provided false information on a bail determination questionnaire.

02/11 2143- Chief Marshall responded to Valley Rd. for a family dispute about a vehicle.

02/13 1115- Ofc. Puchtler taught another DARE class to the 5th graders.

02/13 1700- A resident of E. Washington reported that she believed someone tried to break into her the week prior.

02/14 1740- Report of a residential burglar alarm on So. Main St. Handled by the local trooper.

02/16 1101- A seasonal Bailey Rd. resident asked for a house check due to off activity on the electric bill. All was in order.

02/16 1551- Meals on Wheels requested a welfare check on Lempster Mtn. when a client did not pick up a meal. Resident was found to be alive and well.

02/16 1930- Chief Marshall took a call from a Valley Rd. resident reporting harassing and threatening calls over the past 3 months. He spoke to the caller in MA who said the resident was misperceiving the calls, but he will not call anymore.

02/17 1441- The Town Clerk asked for assistance locating a new resident in town to get him a message to contact her. Chief Marshall left a message.

02/19 1711- A maple sugar producer reported cut sap lines on Halfmoon Pond Rd. Investigation taken by Chief Marshall.

02/19 1751- Suspicious activity was reported at an infant’s grave in the Faxon Hill Cemetery. Investigation underway.

02/20 1539- Ofc. Corrigan checked a LAE resident after a potential suicide reference was posted on Facebook. No problems found.

02/20 1755- Ofc. Moser provided a standby during a child exchange in LAE.

02/21 1600- Bradford Police reported that an E. Washington resident reported to them a suspicious vehicle driving by the bus stop multiple times in the morning and she was concerned for the childrens’ safety. Chief Marshall was able to get the operators name and reported that it was morning newspaper deliverer.

02/21 1613- A Valley Rd. resident complained to the Chief that he did not agree with the way the cruiser was parked doing radar enforcement 4 days earlier. The complaint was documented.

02/20 1200- Ofc. Corrigan took the Students of the Month, Morgan Mulliner, Gracie Atkins and Megan Belanger to lunch at Subway.

02/23 1445- An estranged mother asked for Chief Marshall’s assistance in retrieving a car key from her son.

02/23 1703- A mother in Hillsboro asked that her son be checked after not be able to contact him by phone at his fathers on So. Main St. Chief Marshall found the boy fine, but the phone not so much.

02/231819- Chief Marshall issued a burn permit to a resident on Valley Rd.

02/24 1520- Ofc. Corrigan found a door open again at a Smith Pond Rd. residence. He contacted the owner again and secured the door.

02/25 1327- State Police Troop C requested assistance with a crash on Long Pond Rd. Lempster. Chief Marshall took the information and relayed to Troop C.

02/25 0144- Chief Marshall along with Washington Fire & Rescue responded to Presidential Dr. for a crash. On arrival they located Eric Holmstrom, age 31 of Washington. He had slid off the road and over an embankment with his 2010 Toyota Corolla, rolled over and hit a tree. He was wearing his seatbelt and did not report any injury.

02/25 0240- Chief Marshall located a tree down across the road on So. Main St. DPW assisted with a plow and shoved it off the road.

02/25 1520- Chief Marshall provided a burn permit for a Valley Rd, resident.

02/26 1612- Chief Marshall investigated a large column of black smoke in the Village. He found an illegal burn on No. Main St, warned the home owner then issued a permit.

02/27 1731- A broken window was found in an unoccupied cabin on Valley Rd. The property owner was notified.

02/28 0750- A DPW driver reported an erratic driver passing him earlier on So. Main St. Chief Marshall contacted the driver and warned her that she should not driving so unsafely and we would be watching for her.

02/29 1217- An unlocked door was found during a routine house check on Millen Pond Rd. Ofc. Corrigan checked the residence and secured the door.

02/29 1547- Ofc. Corrigan went to a vehicle off the road on Valley.

02/29 1759- Hillsboro Police requested assistance with a car off the road on E. Washington Rd. Washington unit cancelled when an HPD unit became available.

02/29 1810- Washington emergency services responded to Faxon Hill Rd. for a car off the road. Ofc. Corrigan determined Kyle Rivest, age 19, of Washington went off the road. He was not injured.

03/01 1426- Chief Marshall was asked to deliver a message to an estranged family of a person needing a driveway plowed on Wild Acre Dr.
03/02 0655- Ofc. Corrigan took a report of footprints in the snow around a vacant business on So. Main St. It appeared to be a potential buyer checking the building.

03/02 0959- DPW asked a resident on So Main St. be spoken to about plowing snow across the road.

03/02 1402- A seasonal resident on Washington Hts. Rd. called to report that while at the house 2 weeks ago someone called soliciting money in the name of the Washington Police Department. No such solicitation in undertaken by the WPD.

03/02 1443- A Valley Rd. child and mother reported racist comments received during an on line chat. They were told to block the sender and not continue the conversation.

03/02 2234- Chief Marshall noticed a dome light on in a truck in driveway on Valley Rd. The owner was notified to check it.

03/03 1110- A vehicle went off the road on No. Main St. Ofc. Corrigan assisted.

03/03 1600- Ofc. Corrigan stood by while an estranged father returned children and picked up belongings at an LAE residence.

03/04 1156- A logger reported a theft and misuse of property on No Main St. Investigation being conducted by Ofc. Corrigan.

03/04 1519- A burn was issued to a Valley Rd. resident by Ofc. Corrigan.

03/05 1406- Chief Marshall responded to a car of the road on No. Main St. He drove the driver to the General Store where she wanted to wait for her husband to get it out.

03/06 1240- Sap barrels were stolen from a Halfmoon Pond Rd. collection site. Chief Marshall investigating.

03/07 1115- DARE week 8 taught by Ofc. Puchtler.

03/08 1112- Chief Marshall investigated a log truck operating in violation of the spring weight restriction on Faxon Hill Rd.

03/08 1401- An off duty police officer reported an erratic driver on So Main St. The vehicle had turned around and was not located.

01/01/12 through 03/08/12 The Washington Police Department issued 87 motor vehicle warnings and 9 citations. The Washington Police Department received/performed 110 vacant home checks.
