Throughout the month of March, the Northfield Twp Police will be participating with the Office of Highway Safety Planning Drunk Driving Grant Program. The Northfield Twp Police will be joining the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding agencies in conducting additional Drinking & Driving enforcement.
In 2010 Michigan lost 357 people to drunk/drugged drivers and more than 6000 people were injured during this time. 41,883 people were arrested last year to help deter such unsafe driving behavior and the Northfield Twp police department will continue this effort to reduce the number of injuries and lives lost.
Remember Impaired driving is Drunk Driving and under Michigan Law any first time offender with a BAC .17 or above may receive a suspended license or restricted license with an ignition interlock system and 180 days in jail.
The Northfield Twp Police encourages any adult that drinks to have a transportation plan…….a designated driver, or a phone number for friend or cab. Enjoy yourself, but please be safe.
