BURGLARY/THEFT ARREST

A Marshall County female has been arrested and charged with two burglary related offenses.
“38 year old Tyler Lee Bentley, of Albertville, was booked into the Detention Center on Thursday, March 1st. She was charged with two counts of third degree burglary, one count of first degree theft of property and one count of second degree theft of property,” states Investigator Josh Morgan. “All are felonies.”
These charges stem from two different burglary cases.
Morgan says Bentley allegedly broke into a residence in June 2011 on Highway 11 North in the Keener community. Bentley allegedly stole more than $40,000 worth of jewelry from the home.
The next incident took place in August 2011 on Chumley Road in the Smiths Institute community. She stole approximately $1,500 worth of jewelry.
Bentley made entry to both homes through broken windows. Blood samples were taken at the scenes and sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for testing.
Investigator Morgan said, “Bentley became a suspect in the case and we asked the lab to compare the blood sample to the DNA sample taken from Bentley when she was previously in jail.”
A DNA sample is taken from all individuals who are charged with a felony crime.
The DNA from the blood matched that of Bentley. Because of the match, several cases have also been resolved with other agencies.
Bentley is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $20,000 cash bond.
