Disaster preparedness training (CERT) starts March 26th in Yountville. See email for more details.

Following a major disaster, emergency responders in Napa County will not be able to meet the demand for response. Factors such as number of victims, communication failures & road blockages will prevent people from accessing emergency services they have come to expect at a moment’s notice through 911. People will have to rely on each other for help in order to meet their immediate life saving & sustaining needs. You may be on your own for several hours to several days! Are you prepared to help yourself, family & neighbors in the event of a major disaster? Do you know what utilities to shut off in your home and how? Do you know how to extinguish a fire before it becomes large? Do you know how to safely remove a victim trapped under debris? Do you know the basic first aid techniques that can save a life? These questions are answered in a free course now being offered to the residents & workers of Napa County with the cooperation of the County of Napa & the Cities of Napa, American Canyon, Calistoga and the Napa Valley College. It consists of 5 classes over a 1-week period covering a series of topics in a 20-hour format that are taught in a “hands on” environment. Mandatory attendance at all classes is required for graduation & continuation in the C.E.R.T. graduate program. Academy #72 will be held entirely in Yountville and the course dates are as follows:

Monday, March 26th 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Tuesday, March 27th 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Wednesday, March 28th 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Thursday, March 29th 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Saturday, March 31st 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

To register for this free class, contact the Napa County Executive Office at 253-4580 Monday through Friday between 8 am & 5 pm, or via e-mail at [email protected] - Upon registration for this class, the student will be sent an acceptance letter with attendance details.
