WEAPONS RECOVERED
Guns stolen from patrol vehicles in Etowah County have been recovered.
“We are extremely pleased that tips from the public have helped us solve this case,” says Sheriff Todd Entrekin. “Our communities are safer because these guns are no longer in the hands of criminals.”
Two suspects are currently in custody. Law enforcement officers are searching for an additional individual.
Two shot guns, three AR15 rifles, one 22 caliber rifle, two personal hand guns and one bullet proof vest was found today at various locations in Etowah County. Ten other weapons have also been found and are waiting to be identified.
The investigation is ongoing.
The majority of the thefts committed are believed to have been done by these individuals and that they were trading the weapons for narcotics.
“The investigators and detectives are to be highly commended for their hard work on this case,” Sheriff Entrekin says. “This is just another great example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together.”
