Former Ocoee Police Intern Receives Deputy Michael Callin Memorial Scholarship

Sean Polak, who volunteered as an Ocoee Police Intern for Fall Term 2011, has received the Deputy Michael Callin Memorial Scholarship. Michael Callin, a 1998 Oviedo High School graduate and member of the NJROTC went on to become an Orange County Sheriff's Office Motors Deputy. He served in the Sheriff's Office for seven years before being killed in 2006 in the line of duty by a fleeing felon. In recognition and honor to not only a great son, brother, and husband, but also as a servant to his community, Callin’s family and friends established the Michael Callin Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund provides a $1,000 scholarship to students and police academy recruits who represents the high example of service as shown by Deputy Callin.
