Updated information on the Train Derailment with Pictures

At approximately 1245 pm this afternoon, Arlington First Responders were dispatched to a train derailment that occurred between Center Street & Collins Street. Preliminary information indicates an east bound Union Pacific freight train derailed up to 6 cars including some tanker cars. It is believed some of the cargo contained in the tankers included corn syrup, a non-hazardous substance and a few cars were empty. There are currently no evacuations ongoing, however traffic is heavy in the immediate area. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area. You can cross the tracks from Stadium, Collins, West, Davis, and Fielder. Local, State, and Federal officials are working diligently to mitigate the incident. The Arlington Fire Department has primary incident command at this time. The Arlington Police Department is working to mitigate traffic issues in the immediate area. It is believed that some crossings may be blocked until Union Pacific can remove the cars from blocking the crossings.
