Suspicious Death on Charlton Street Ruled Homicide

On Tuesday February 14, 2012 at approximately 6:00 AM Worcester Police responded to 15 Charlton Street for a medical call that involved a male who was unresponsive. Arriving officers determined that the male victim was deceased and that the cause of death was suspicious. The Worcester Police Detective Bureau and the Crime Scene Unit were called to the scene. Investigators worked at the scene throughout the day and into the evening before clearing the apartment.

Investigators have identified the victim as Josue Duran, 35 years old of 15 Charlton Street. The exact cause of death is pending the completion of autopsy reports. This homicide is not related to the other recent homicides that occurred in the area. To date, this is the city’s 3rd homicide for 2012.

“In response to this recent uptick in violence, Worcester Police have established a visible presence in the Main South Neighborhood. The department has added extra foot patrols to the 700 block of Main Street and in and around Castle Park. Members of the Worcester Police Anti Violence Street Crimes Unit are at work in this section of the city along with other investigative units. The Worcester Police Department continues to collaborate with the community through neighborhood watch meetings to address crime and encourage community involvement,” explains Chief Gary J. Gemme.
