(Prince George, VA) –Prince George Police Lead the Way in Polar Plunge Challenge
Each year in February officers from around the Commonwealth come to Virginia Beach to battle the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for the Special Olympics. The 2012 Polar Plunge marked the largest fundraising effort in the event’s 20 year history with a record of $1.12 million being raised.
The Prince George County Police Department’s team affectionately named Prince George Copsicles led the pack of 33 teams in fundraising coming in with a total of $6,577.85. The dedicated team of 19 individuals is to be commended for their hard work and dedication. Members of the Copsicles will be meeting with five Prince George County Special Olympic athletes in the near future and present them with their team t-shirts along with a Polar Plunge CD.
