MAYS LANDING– A Pleasantville man was arrested last night after failing to appear in Superior Court last week, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel stated.
From March 2010 through November 2011, Shakeem Young, 25, was arrested three times for drug and weapons charges. Mr. Young posted bail all three times. On December 15, Mr. young pleaded guilty to first-degree drug and second-degree weapons charges. Mr. Young’s bail was conditionally continued and he was placed on a
GPS tracking device.
It is alleged that on January 19, 2012, Mr. Young removed his GPS tracking device. On January 25, Mr. Young was charged with third-degree escape for removing his assigned GPS bracelet. On January 20, Mr. Young failed to appear in court before Superior Court
Judge Bernard DeLury. After Mr. Young’s failure to appear in court, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Yesterday, the United Stated Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force located Mr. Young at a Brigantine residence on Casa Drive. Mr. Young was arrested and a search warrant was executed on the residence, resulting in the discovery of a loaded .357 caliber handgun.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Pleasantville Police Department, the Brigantine Police Department and the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force assisted in this investigation and arrest.
