Vehicle Stop Yields Methamphetamine, Marijuana And Two Arrests.

Public Information Release
January 20, 2012
Sergeant Steve Brooks, Public Information Officer

A proactive vehicle stop in Clearlake Oaks yields methamphetamine, a glass “meth” pipe, marijuana and two arrests.

On January 19, 2012 at approximately 8:13 pm, a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy on active patrol conducted a vehicle stop on Keys Boulevard near Sixth Street in Clearlake Oaks. The deputy contacted the driver who he identified as 55 year old David Wayne Christensen of Clearlake Oaks. The deputy could immediately smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Christensen pulled a baggie of marijuana from his pants pocket and showed it to the deputy.

The deputy then contacted the passenger of the vehicle who he identified as 22 year old Kristen Cook Weiss of Lucerne. The deputy learned that Weiss was on probation for being under the influence of a controlled substance. During a probation search of the vehicle, a glass “meth” pipe was located along with a baggie containing methamphetamine. Neither Weiss nor Christensen claimed ownership of the pipe or methamphetamine. Based on the deputy’s observations and Weiss’ admission, he determined she was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Both Christensen and Weiss were transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility. Christensen was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Weiss was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance and for violating the conditions of her probation.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will continue its efforts to eradicate narcotics from the communities of Lake County and seize the suspected profits of drug trafficking for the asset forfeiture whenever possible.
