In September of 2011, detectives from Century OSS were assigned a gang related shooting wherein three females were shot in the Firestone/Florence area. The intended victim was a known gang member and the suspect was believed to be an opposing gang member. A .45 caliber handgun was used in the shooting.
In the following months, detectives monitored arrests involving members of the suspect’s gang and discovered an arrest involving a .45 caliber handgun out of Century Station. A crime lab firearms comparison revealed the handgun was the same gun used in the shooting. Information was developed identifying a possible suspect for the shooting. The shooting suspect was positively identified by victims and an arrest warrant was issued. The suspect was later apprehended and five counts of attempted murder with gang enhancements were filed against the suspect.
