Advisory

Coldest Weather of Winter Poised to Invade Pacific Northwest late Saturday

: A cold front, and much colder air aloft will move into the region beginning late Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning, bringing mountain snow to the Olympics and Cascades, and a threat of lowland snow to Western Washington. Showers will linger behind the front, and may be heavy at times, especially associated with the formation of a Puget Sound Convergence Zone.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE (Saturday/Sunday):
* High Confidence:
* Moderate mountain snow accumulations for the Olympics and Cascades
* Much colder temperatures across the region behind the cold front
* Icy conditions through out much of Western Washington
* Lowland snow accumulations some preferred locations (hilltops, and areas of heavier or persistent showers such as with the Puget Sound Convergence Zone)

* Lower Confidence:
* The amounts and distribution of lowland snow accumulations late Saturday night into Sunday
* Specific locations, how widespread will the distribution will be, and the potential for snow accumulations as low as sea level are difficult to predict at this time
