GM Truck wheel thefts on the rise in the surrounding area
In recent weeks, surround police agencies have been reporting an increase in the number of wheels & tires being stolen from late model GM trucks and SUV’s. Although it has been some time since we have had any reports of this nature in Sachse, we realize that it is only a matter of time before we have more.
The thieves seem to be targeting newer model Tahoes/Surburbans and light pickup trucks. They tend to remove the wheels and leave the trucks sitting on the ground or on blocks. Here are a few tips that should help to reduce you chance of being the victim of one of these thefts.
• Park in the garage – what a thief can’t see he doesn’t know to target
• Park in a well-lit area – make sure your exterior lighting is working, a thief does not want to be seen
• Use wheel locks – standard equipment from many dealers, wheel locks can be purchased inexpensively at any local automotive supply
• Always report anything you think is suspicious to the Police Department – You are our best line of defense, you know those people and vehicles that do or don’t belong in your neighborhood better than we do.
