Amarillo man arrested in afternoon residential burglary.
On Wednesday, January 4th, at 1:47pm APD officers were sent to a residence in the 6200 Landon Road on what was reported as a Home Invasion Robbery. Upon arrival officers learned that this was an attempted burglary, not a Home Invasion Robbery. The female homeowner told officers that a Hispanic male had rang the doorbell, however she did not answer the door because she did not recognize the male subject. The subject then got into a white/red/white pickup and drove on down the street. About a minute later the pickup drove back by the residence and proceeded on down the street. Approximately 2-3 minutes later the homeowner heard someone attempting to gain entry into the back door of the residence. The suspect did break a window in the back door, however the homeowner began screaming and the suspect immediately took off. The homeowner and her 2 unidentified children ran to a nearby neighbor and called police. The suspect got into the same white/red/white older model Chevrolet pickup and struck a fence as he was attempting to get away. At 1:58pm, APD COPPS officers observed and stopped a pickup matching the description in the 5100 block of South Coulter. The driver matched the description the homeowner had given and was returned back to the residence where he was positively identified. The driver is identified as Calip Farmer H/M 3-27-59 of Amarillo. Farmer was booked into Randall County Jail on a charge of Burglary.
