[Hopewell, VA] – On December 31, 2011 at approximately 5:15am, officers responded to the McDonald’s restaurant located in the 3300 block of Oaklawn Blvd. for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred. The investigation revealed that the lone offender entered the business, brandished a dark-colored handgun and removed an undisclosed amount of currency from the safe prior to fleeing the business on foot. A K-9 track was conducted; however, the offender was unable to be located. No persons were harmed during the incident.

The offender is described as a medium complexioned black male, approximately 20-25 years of age, 5’8”-5’11”, 160-170 pounds, with a medium build and short style haircut. He was last seen wearing a light in color full-face covering, a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt/jacket over a white in color t-shirt, grey in color sweatpants and multi-colored sneakers. The offender also was observed in possession of a small pink in color backpack.

The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter and is following up on viable leads.
