**HMPD arrests home invasion suspect**
On the afternoon of December 30, 2011 Hope Mills Officers responded to 4771-C Dunrobin Drive which is located in the Southview Town Houses complex in reference to a home invasion in progress. HMPD Officer Owens arrived on scene and observed the suspects leaving the area in a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Officer Owens turned around, activated his blue lights and siren and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle refused to stop and began to flee from Officer Owens. Shortly after Officer Owens attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, the suspect vehicle attempted to make a right turn onto Alexwood Drive from Elk Road and crashed into a utility pole. Officer Owens was able to apprehend one of the suspects at the scene of the crash and the other fled into the Elk Run subdivision on foot and remains at large.
Property was recovered in the vehicle that had been taken during a break-in that occurred in the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction earlier in the day.
Brian O'niel Robinson was arrested and charged with Conspiracy, Breaking and Entering, Attempt Breaking and Entering, and Possession of Stolen Property and is currently at the Cumberland County Magistrate's Office awaiting a bond hearing. The remaining suspect is still being sought by the Hope Mills Police Department and the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Information regarding his identity will be forthcoming.
