Public Information Release
December 27, 2011
Michelle Gonzalez, Lake County Sheriff’s Office
On December 26, 2011 a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy and K-9 actively patrolling the Clearlake Oaks area attempted to make an enforcement stop. The vehicle failed to yield, for approximately a mile and a half. The pursuit reached speeds over 40 miles an hour through residential areas. The residential area involved typically has heavy pedestrian foot traffic, and several blind corners.
Ultimately the vehicle came to a stop, and the suspect exited the vehicle. After being given multiple commands to get on the ground, the deputy called his K-9 from the Sheriff’s Office vehicle. The deputy told the suspect, Jimmy Dale Scarborough of Clearlake, to get on the ground or he would deploy the K-9. The suspect began to flee the area and the K-9 engaged him.
The suspect, who was later determined to be on active CDC parole for manufacturing narcotics, was ultimately arrested and booked at Hill Road Correctional Facility for felony evasion of a peace officer with disregard for safety, resisting arrest and felony violation of parole.
