**HMPD Officers remove dangerous fugitive from the street**

On Thursday, December 22, 2011 HMPD Officers captured Jesse James Cicci of the 5600 block of Bagget Lane in Hope Mills.

HMPD Officers responded to Walmart to investigate a Hit and Run accident. Upon the arrival of Officer S.Owens, Mr. Cicci and another subject fled from the scene on foot. Officer Owens chased Mr. Cicci on foot through the parking lot and into the vacant Helendale MHP lot at which time Mr. Cicci gained access to a vehicle and attempted to leave the scene in the vehicle. At that time, Officer Owens struggled with Mr. CIcci at the vehicle and during the course of the struggle Officer Owens deployed his TASER in an attempt to take Mr. Cicci into custody. As Officer Owens deployed his TASER, Mr. Cicci managed to place his vehicle into drive and then left the area in the vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, Chief R. Hassell located the suspect vehicle on North Main Street and attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Golfview Drive and North Main Street. Upon activating his blue lights and siren, Mr. Cicci attempted to elude Chief Hassell by turning onto Old Plank Road and accelerating away from Chief Hassell. Mr. Cicci then abruptly stopped his vehicle on Old Plank Road, jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot. Chief Hassell chased Mr. Cicci on foot down Old Plank Road, through several backyards and finally captured Mr. Cicci in the backyard of a residence on Sagamore Drive.

Mr. Cicci was charged with several violations by HMPD to include Resist, Delay, and Obstruct an Officer, Driving While License Revoked, and charges connected with the Hit and Run. It was found after Mr. Cicci was arrested that he was wanted on warrants from other jurisdictions for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, 2nd Degree Kidnapping, Larceny, Assault, and Assault on a Female. Mr. Cicci is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
