HOUSE FIRE IN LAMBERTVILLE NOT SUSPICIOUS
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III announced the investigation into a house fire in Lambertville conducted by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Investigation Unit and the Hunterdon County Arson Task Force.
Firefighters from numerous Hunterdon County Fire Companies battled the fire at 26 Perry Street for several hours Tuesday, December 20th. One resident of the dwelling was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and one firefighter suffered minor injuries. Three cats perished in the blaze. Investigators have determined that, at this time, the fire was not suspicious.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “Examination of the fire scene and statements given to Detectives indicate that the fire started in a second floor bedroom where an electric space heater was in use. Although the cause of the fire is officially undetermined, the origin appears to be in the area of that space heater.”
Prosecutor Kearns added, “Arson Investigators respond to all major fires in the county to determine origin and cause. Once a fire is determined not to be suspicious, the scene is released to the property owner’s insurance company.”
