Amarillo Special Crimes needs help in solving "cold case".

On Sunday January 13th, 2008 Amarillo Police Department received a Missing person report. The victim in the report is Ryan Christopher Garcia. He was last seen on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2007. By January 28th, there was no new information about Ryan’s disappearance. On April 5th, 2008 Potter County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service near Givens Road, west of highway 287. A dead body had been located by a farmer. The body was located in a concrete drainage ditch. A fingerprint comparison led to the identification of the body as Ryan Christopher Garcia. The Special Crimes Unit believed the body to be the victim of a possible homicide. APD Special Crimes Unit worked diligently investigating this case, collecting any possible evidence and talking to those who knew or may have known Ryan. This April will mark the 2nd year since the discovery of Ryan’s body. The family is still grieving the loss of Ryan and with each year’s passing, brings reminders of both joy and sorrow. There have been numerous suspicions and leads to the case, unfortunately none of the leads so far have resolved clearing the case. The time that has passed is a reminder that this seemingly “Cold Case” still needs to be and can be solved. Amarillo Crime Stoppers and the Special Crimes Unit ask that if you have information on this case to please call with your tip(s). An anonymous tipster may possibly even receive a reward if the information leads to the arrest of the suspect. Amarillo Crime Stoppers pays rewards of up to $1,000. If anyone has information on Ryan Garcia’s death, call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400 or go on-line at amapolice.org to “Submit a Tip” on-line. You may also text information by texting ACS and your tip and send it to “Crimes” or 274637. All information is anonymous. Amarillo Crime Stoppers will never ask your personal information. You may also contact the Special Crime Unit directly by calling 806-378-9468.
