Arrests Made of Three Suspects in Multiple Robbery of Individual Offenses, December 14
On December 14, 2011, between the hours of 8:40pm and 10:20pm, six individuals were robbed at gunpoint at five different locations in an area bounded by Central Expressway, McCommas, Greenville Avenue and Bennett.
The offenses occurred on public sidewalks and in parking lots. The victims were walking to their vehicles or were en route on foot to their residences. The suspects, who were armed with handguns, approached the victims and demanded property. Property taken consisted of personal items such as wallets, purses and cell phones.
Through a coordinated effort by Central Division’s Patrol and Community Engagement Unit, the suspects were located and apprehended without incident.
While robbery “sprees” such as this are not common, it is important to always be aware of your surroundings. When going out, walk in well lit areas, and, if possible, travel in groups. If confronted by someone who demands property, comply with their demands. Make a mental note of the suspect description (race, sex, height, weight, what they are wearing, facial hair, glasses, hair color and length).
