Sheriff's Sanders' Project Lifesaver members locate a missing 9 year old child with Autism in 6 minutes!

A 9 year old boy with Autism who walked away from his home Saturday evening, in the Marion Anderson Road area, was located within 6 minutes of team member arrival.

Deputies received the call at 7:02pm, members of the Garland County Sheriff's Project Lifesaver team were on scene at 7:19pm and the child was located on another street, where he was hiding under a wheelbarrow, at 7:25pm.

The child was safely returned to his family!

Project Lifesaver was established to help families of Alzheimer’s, Autism, and Down Syndrome members. Garland County Sheriff’s Department Project Lifesaver was started in April of 2006 with donations from the citizens of Garland County. We have five search specialist that are trained in the use of the electronic search equipment.

Our “Clients” wear a small wrist transmitter that emits a signal which is received by our tracking equipment. If the client becomes lost, they can be tracked by a search specialist and can normally be located within minutes instead of hours.

If you have any questions about Project Lifesaver, or feel that your family may benefit from this program, please contact Captain Shelby Terry at 501-622-3690.
