REWARD OFFERED FOR CEMETERY VANDALS

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III and Flemington Police Chief George Becker announce an update on the ongoing investigation at the Flemington Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Since November 15th, over 150 headstones have been vandalized at the cemetery, some dating back to the 19th century. Cost estimates of the damage are over $30,000. Detectives have asked the public for help in identifying suspects in the case.

According to Prosecutor Kearns, “The persons responsible for these crimes face multiple counts of 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief which could expose them to a maximum of five years in prison if convicted. The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office is offering a $500 reward for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the persons
responsible.”

Prosecutor Kearns added, “The reward money being offered is from a special account funded by federally seized and forfeited money from drug dealers and other criminal enterprises.”
