Public Help Requested: Jason James Murphy, Arrested for Sex Registration Violation, West Hollywood

TITLE: Jason James Murphy Arrested for Sex Registration Violation, West Hollywood
DATE: Friday, December 9, 2011
NARRATIVE:
On April 22, 2009, Jason James Murphy, met with investigators at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, and registered as a Sex Registrant pursuant to Penal Code Section 290 PC.
During this process, he indicated that he was living within the West Hollywood jurisdiction. In addition, he signed forms advising him that he was responsible to report any change of residence or any name changes or use of an alias as is required by the legislation.
Since that time, detectives confirmed that he in fact had not been living in the City of West Hollywood. Based on the information provided to West Hollywood Station detectives by the press and other law enforcement agencies regarding Murphy’s employment activities, an investigation was conducted.
As a result of the investigation, detectives determined Murphy had violated sections of the Penal Code relating to notification to Law Enforcement when using an alias and notification to law enforcement when moving out of their jurisdiction.
Detectives from West Hollywood Station filed a criminal complaint with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office in Beverly Hills. As a result, a warrant was issued in the amount of $500,000.00.
On today’s date, Jason Murphy turned himself in to detectives at the West Hollywood Station where he was subsequently booked as charged.
