Citizens are asked to prepare for Winter Driving Conditions as snow is predicted this weekend. 
Storm Lake Public Safety is asking motorists to prepare for winter driving conditions in the wake of the first predicted snow event with accumulations of the winter season.
In the case of poor road conditions and diminished visibility please take the following steps:
*Consider delaying travel if possible.
*Allow for extra time to travel.
*Check road conditions along your planned route by viewing the Iowa DOT website.
*Insure that your gas tank is full.
*Place a winter travel kit in your vehicle inclusive of blankets, flashlight and batteries, water and snacks.
*Make sure your cell phone is fully charged prior to travel.
*Let someone else know your travel plans and route.
