DEFENDANT PLEADS GUILTY IN HUNTERDON ABUSE CASE
The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office today announced the guilty plea of Debra Sloan. Sloan’s trial was set to begin yesterday, November 28th before the Honorable John Pursel, J.S.C. The plea agreement recommends state prison for up to 5 years. The maximum state prison sentence is up to 25 years and fines up to $375,000.
Sloan was indicted in 2009 for several crimes involving the neglect and abuse of three disabled victims. The victims, Lydia Joy Perry and Tara O’Leary, who have since died, and Erin Germaine, lived in the Alexandria Township home of Sloan, a licensed community care
provider. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Sloan will plead guilty to three counts of Neglect of a Disabled Person and two counts of Theft.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 24, 2012 before Judge Pursel in Hunterdon County Superior Court. Questions can be faxed to Assistant Prosecutor Debra Factor at 908-806-4618.
