Montecito Fire Protection District responded to a report of a trailer fire at 315 E. Mountain Drive last night.

PRESS RELEASE:

MONTECITO, CA –The Montecito Fire Protection District responded to a report of a trailer fire at 315 E. Mountain Drive at 10:53 p.m. The call was reported by a neighbor utilizing 9-1-1.

Upon arrival, Montecito Fire personnel found a 20 foot travel trailer fully engulfed in flames. The fire was knocked down at 11:10 p.m.

Although Montecito Fire did not initiate any evacuations for this incident, Westmont College chose to initiate their own evacuation of students to their gym at approximately 11:07 p.m. Troy Harris, Director of Risk Management, at Westmont stated “The evacuation of students went very smoothly. Many students had been through this ‘drill’ before, as this year’s Seniors, had been evacuated as Freshman during the Tea Fire.”

There were 3 engines, 1 rescue, 1 ambulance, and several command vehicles on scene. There was one female patient transported to Cottage Hospital with minor injuries. Agencies on scene included: Montecito Fire Protection District, Santa Barbara City Fire Department, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department, and AMR.

The fire cause is under investigation.
