Full Notification

On Friday, November 18, 2011, an unknown male (Suspect 1), possibly Hispanic, knocked on the door in the 1000 block of Elfred Ct, Grosse Pointe Woods. The unknown male, spoke with the elderly female resident and requested to come in and check her water pressure. At first, the female resident stated “no”. Then the female resident observed her husband, who had just come home from shopping, was speaking with another unknown male (Suspect 2), also possibly Hispanic. Believing the 2 males were legitimate and working together, she allowed the unknown male into her home.

Once inside, the unknown male turned on the faucet in the kitchen and told the resident that this would take a few minutes and suggested she go back into the living room and continue watching television. A few moments later, a third unknown male (Suspect 3), possibly Hispanic, entered the home and was told by Suspect 1 to go and check the water flow in the bathroom. After a few minutes the resident grew suspicious and walked toward her bathroom. There, she observed both suspects exiting her bedroom. The two thanked her for her cooperation and quickly left the premises. The resident observed all three suspects enter a light colored van that was parked in the driveway. The resident checked her bedroom and discovered her jewelry missing.

According to the husband, he had just come home from shopping when he was approached in the driveway by an unknown male (Suspect 3), possibly Hispanic, who began inquiring about tree roots. The resident took Suspect 3 into the backyard to show him the roots of their trees.

SUSPECTS
Suspect 1: possibly Hispanic male, 30’s, medium build, 5’11, wearing dark work clothes
Suspect 2: possibly Hispanic male, 30’s, heavy build, 6/225, wearing dark work clothes
Suspect 3: possibly Hispanic male, 30’s, thin build, 5’9, beard, wearing tan work coat

TAKEN
Various pieces of jewelry, estimated value $15,000. Complainant is in the process of compiling a detailed list of items taken.

VEHICLE
Unknown type light colored van.

At no time did the suspects produce any type of identification or indicate who they were representing in order to check on a supposed water pressure issue.
