The Crystal Lake Police Department and FEMA reminds you of the Nationwide Test of the Emergency Alert System on 11/09/11 at 1:00 P.M. CST.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). The nationwide test will occur on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. (CST) and may last up to three and a half minutes. Similar to local emergency alert system tests, an audio message will interrupt television and radio programming indicating “This is a test”. When the test is over, regular programming will resume. This nationwide test will involve broadcast radio and television stations, cable television, satellite radio and television services and wireline video service providers. For additional information, please see FEMA’s website at www.fema.gov.
