Fencing Operation Busted - 4 Arrested for Posession of Stolen Property
On Saturday, November 5, 2011, at approximately 8 a.m., Newport Beach Police Detectives served a search warrant in the 1000 block of Valencia Street in Costa Mesa. The warrant service resulted from an investigation alleging that stolen property was being sold to a “fence” at that location. The stolen property was then sold at the Orange Coast College Swap Meet. During the warrant service, Detectives recovered numerous electronic devices that were believed to have been taken from vehicle and residential burglaries. This included 100+ cellular phones, 20+ laptop computers, 20+ IPods and 20+ GPS devices.
All four of the suspects, who are related, were arrested for 496 PC – Possession of Stolen Property. They were booked at the Newport Beach Police Jail and were each being held on $20,000 bail.
The goal of the Police Department is to identify the rightful owners of the recovered stolen property.
