Narrative:
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office believes that in order to address and resolve issues that affect a neighborhood, Deputies must be made aware of the problems by having direct communication and interaction with the community. The Sheriff’s Office also understands that to properly solve issues/problems in our neighborhoods, it takes a systematic partnership between the community and their deputies. To meet this challenge the Sheriff’s Office is implementing a C.O.P.S (Community Oriented Policing) program.Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.S) is a philosophy that promotes the use of partnerships and problem-solving techniques, to proactively address the immediate concerns and conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, social disorder and quality of life issues. The first step in the C.O.P.S program will be to conduct a door-to-door survey of both residents and businesses to determine the needs of the community. The responses to the survey will help the C.O.P.S program identify and prioritize issues affecting the community. Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Headquarters Station will conduct the surveys. The first survey will include the businesses in the community of Saticoy on November 4, 2011, beginning at 9:00 AM.The residential area of Saticoy will be surveyed on November 12, 2011, beginning at 9:00 AM.Through cooperation and input from the community, we can work together to make a difference.
