Incident: Arcadia High School Threat – Campus on Lockdown

Date and Time of Release: November 1, 2011 – 4:45 p.m.

Arcadia High School officials received a pending threat on the high school campus today. The threat was a non-specific note – but it did indicate people would be killed on campus today. Shortly before noon, the High School was placed on a precautionary lockdown and police resources were brought in to deal with the situation.

The investigation led police to Holly Avenue Elementary School and that campus was placed on lockdown for a brief period. It was a minimum day schedule so the lockdown affected only few students. It was determined that there was no threat on the Holly Avenue Campus so the lockdown was released a short time later.

The Police Department and School Officials worked together to develop a dismissal plan at the High School and all students were safely escorted from the campus.

No arrests have been made. Investigators are working with school officials to identify who is responsible for the threat.

School will be in session tomorrow. Students can expect to see a large police presence on and around the campus to calm
