On Friday, 28 October 2011 members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Special Investigation Bureau were conducting surveillance in the area of 271 State Street, when a Gold colored Infinity G35 was observed parked in front of the William C. McGinnis Middle School, as students were letting out for the day, with a female driver, who was identified as Diana Casey, D.O.B. 08/19/1969, of Sayreville and a male passenger identified as Hector O. Mujica, D.O.B. 12/20/1961 of Perth Amboy. A short time later, a Black colored VW Jetta parked across the street with the driver, who was identified as Waldo Cruz, D.O.B. 04/20/1974 of Perth Amboy, exiting it and walking over to the passenger side of the Infinity. At that time, Police Officer David Guzman & Sergeant Carmelo Jimenez observed a hand to hand narcotic transaction transpire between the two. Cruz then walked back over towards his vehicle as Officer Guzman went to approach him, Cruz tossed (2) decks of Heroin, which he had just purchased from Mujica, into the passenger side of his vehicle. Cruz was then placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Heroin. As Sgt Jimenez approached Mujica he observed him counting $51.00 in currency and had an additional $520.00 in currency sitting on his lap which was bound with a rubber band. Casey had $104.00 in her hand at this same time. Both were also placed under arrest. Mujica was charged with Distribution of Heroin, Distribution of Heroin within 1000 feet of a School Zone & Possession of Heroin. A subsequent search of Casey revealed (2) hypodermic needles, (2) crack pipes, a burnt spoon, and a copper wire scouring pad. Casey was charged with Conspiracy to distribute Heroin with Mujica, Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia, and Possession of Hypodermic Needles. $675.00 in U.S. currency was seized along with the 2005 Infinity.

Bail was set by Honorable Judge Emery Toth for Hector Mujica at $35,000 with no 10%. The others were released after receiving summons.
