Alert

Residents should stay away from all utility lines on the ground or tangled in trees. Many are still live and have power to them.

Due to the severity of the storm and the volume of incidents involving downed trees, utility poles and utility wires, there are many live wires still not disconnected by JCP&L.
Residents should stay away from ALL utility wires that are on the ground, tangled in trees or on their property. Handling these wires could result in serious injury or death.
We understand that residents may be frustrated by the long delays from the electric company but it is not worth the danger to handle these wires.
Even though you may see only a cable or telephone wire torn off of your home, these wires may be tangled in a power line further down the road.
Live wires may be on the ground witout any arcing, fire or other indication that they are live.
Please stay away from all of these wires.
The Denville Police Department has not been provided with an accurate time from JCP&L for when power will be restored.
