SANTA ANA POLICE- ONE OF THE DEPARTMENT’S 10 MOST WANTED SUSPECTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN EVERETT, WASHINGTON .
On Saturday, October 22, 2011, Santa Ana Police Department Murder Suspect Gerald Guy Byrne was arrested in Everett, Washington on an unrelated charge. Suspect Byrne had provided the Everett Police Department with a false name, during the booking process officers identified Byrne through finger prints as being a wanted parole suspect in the State of California.
Suspect Byrne was wanted for the Santa Ana July 21, 2009, murder of Charles John Samo.
Details: Officers responded to the condominium complex at 2522 West Mac Arthur at 2302 hours for a report of a possible dead body. Officers located the victim in unit #E, a 69 year old male, deceased inside. Victim Samo had obvious trauma to his upper body and after an autopsy it was revealed that the victim had been strangled. Homicide Detectives Identified Gerald Guy Byrne as the suspect in the murder.
Since the murder suspect Byrne, a transient parolee with a long criminal history has been on the run and one of Santa Ana Police Department’s 10 Most Wanted Suspects. Suspect Byrne will be brought back to the State of California; by the CDCR Extradition Team for is parole violation.
