Charges: 247.5 Discharge Laser at Occupied Aircraft

Orange County Sheriff’s Helicopter “Duke 1” requested assistance from the Santa Ana Police Department in locating and arresting a subject who was pointing a laser at their helicopter while flying over the area of Flower/Sunflower. Officers were directed to an apartment residence at 3900 S. Flower where they contacted GARCIA who confessed to pointing the laser at the helicopter. GARCIA stated that he was with some friends just messing around in his backyard and did not know it was against the law. GARCIA was arrested and booked for the felony charge at SADF. The laser was taken as evidence.
