An incident involving the alleged sexual assault of an 11 year-old child at a shopping mall in Santa Clarita has resulted in an investigation by the Special Victims Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

On Monday, at about 4:00PM, October 17, 2011, the boy was inside a public restroom located in the food court area of the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall (24201 West Valencia Blvd., Valencia, CA 91355) when he was allegedly sexually assaulted by a stranger.

After the boy and suspect left the restroom, the father confronted the suspect in the courtyard of the food court, and a physical altercation ensued. The suspect ran away in the direction of the Transit Center across the street. He most likely used public transit to leave the scene.

Sheriff's detectives have identified the suspect as Casey Crockett, a 25 year-old White male. He is 5'07," 255 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

He should have visible injuries to his face, as a result of his fight with the victim's father.

Crockett is a resident of Saugus and has employement in Saugus. His whereabouts are currently not known.

The suspect is known to use Santa Clarita Transit buses and Metrolink trains to travel within the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond. He is known to frequent Burbank where he has friends, but could be elsewhere.

The Sheriff's Special Victims Bureau is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect.

If seen, do not confront the suspect. Instead, call 911 and report it.
