RECENT INCREASE SEEN IN THEFT FROM AUTOS... LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS, REMOVE VALUALBLES, PARK IN WELL LIT AREAS..
Over the past several months, the Anne Arundel County Police Department Southern District has noticed an increase in the amount of thefts involving property being removed from vehicles in numerous communities within the District.
In many of these cases, the vehicle's doors were not locked and/or valuable property had been left in plain view.
Theft from vehicles is one of the most easily prevented crimes. Please follow these common sense prevention tips:
* Do not leave valuables in plain view in your car, no matter where you park.
* Take all valuables with you or place them in your trunkāif possible, before reaching your destination.
* Lock your car and park in a well-lit parking area.
* Report any suspicious activity that you see in parking areas or in your neighborhood right away by calling 911. Many people feel they are bothering us if something seems suspicious, but we'd rather check it out when it is happening as oppossed to finding out at a later time.
If you have specific information regarding a theft from auto, or any other crime, please call the Southern District Detective Unit at 410-222-1960.
