At 10:20 a.m. on October 20, 2011, MERRAG will “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” in The Great California ShakeOut
At 10:20 a.m. on October 20, 2011, millions of Californians will “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” in The Great California ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill ever! Montecito Fire and MERRAG are encouraging you to participate in this drill.
Please join us by registering at: http://www.shakeout.org/register/
Participation is simple: Tune to AM 1610 at 10:20 AM on October 20, 2011 and practice "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" along other Montecito residents and millions of other Califorinian's!
Major earthquakes may happen anywhere you work, live, or travel in California. The ShakeOut is our chance to practice how to protect ourselves, and for everyone to become prepared. The goal is to prevent a major earthquake from becoming a catastrophe for you, your family, and your community.
Why is a “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” drill important? As with anything to act quickly you must practice often. You may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake before strong shaking knocks you down, or something falls on you. More than 7.9 million Southern Californians participated in the 2010 ShakeOut statewide.
Everyone can participate! Individuals, families, businesses, schools, colleges, government agencies and organizations are all invited to register. For more information on how you can prepare for earthquakes or how to participate in the largest earthquake drill ever, you can call Geri Ventura at 969-2537 or go to www.shakeout.org
And remember, the Great California Shakeout and District wide MERRAG drill will be THIS Thursday, October 20 at 10:20AM. Hope you’ll be participating too!
