As we enter into autumn and fewer hours of daylight, residents are reminded that the criminal element prefers darkness. Break the Crime Triangle (Ability, Desire, and Opportunity) by following the below suggestions:

- Turn your porch light on and use other outdoor lights.
- Keep all windows locked
- Keep all doors locked
- Use deadbolt locks on exterior doors
- Never leave valuables in plain sight
- Keep your bushes and lawn neatly trimmed
- Use light timers for interior lights while you are out
- Keep your garage door closed and locked
- Get to know your neighbors
- Trust your instincts. If it seems suspicious, report it to police
