Narrative:
At 6:14 this morning deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to an injury traffic accident on Westlake Boulevard just north of Brunston Court. Upon arrival, deputies determined that two separate collisions had actually occurred at the location. The first collision involved a female juvenile who was driving southbound in the # 1 lane of Westlake Boulevard north of Brunston Court. The juvenile’s car left the roadway and drove onto the center median where it collided head on into a tree. The juvenile’s car came to rest partially blocking the northbound # 1 lane of Westlake Boulevard.
Shortly after the first collision occurred, David Bush approached the accident scene in the southbound #1 lane of Westlake Boulevard. At about the same time Kyle Dagan approached the accident scene in the northbound #1 lane of Westlake Boulevard. Bush stopped his Nissan pickup in the southbound # 1 lane and Dagan stopped his Landrover SUV in the northbound # 1 lane. Bush and Dagan got out of their cars to render assistance to the female juvenile. Additionally, they both activated the emergency flashing lights on their cars.
Eial Tores was driving his Toyota Prius southbound in the # 1 lane of Westlake Boulevard approaching the accident scene and the two-parked cars in the roadway. Tores’ Prius continued southbound and collided into the rear end of Bush’s pickup. The force of the collision pushed Bush’s pickup across the center median where it collided into Dagan’s Landrover.
The female juvenile was transported by ambulance to Los Robles Hospital for treatment of her injuries. There were no injuries during the second collision. As a result of both collisions southbound Westlake Boulevard was closed until approximately 9:30 am. Northbound Westlake Boulevard was closed until approximately 10:30 am.
The Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau would like to take this opportunity to remind drivers of the importance to continually scan the roadway they are traveling on for potential hazards. In the event that you approach an accident scene or a hazard in the roadway, slow down and take the appropriate action to avoid a secondary collision.
