INVESTIGATION INTO PSUEDOEPHEDRINE SALES LEADS TO TWENTY-SIX ARRESTS

On September 28 and 29, 2011, the Jackson Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit conducted a pseudoephedrine diversion operation with assistance form the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit and Gang Enforcement Unit, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, West Tennessee Drug & Violent Crime Task Force and Field Officers with Madison County Community Corrections. This operation was performed in cooperation with local pharmacies to target persons purchasing pseudoephedrine products for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine. Psuedoephedrine is the primary ingredient in decongestant cold medicines that have to be purchased through a pharmacy and not over-the-counter. It is also the most common essential precursor chemical used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, a schedule II controlled substance. Through the duration of this operation, a total of 26 people were arrested. Cases were developed on 14 of them for Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture which is a class D felony. Others were arrested for drug possession, public intoxication, drug paraphernalia or for driving related charges. In addition to the pseudoephedrine products, amounts of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Alprazolam pills, Floricet pills, Hyrdocodone pills and various amounts of drug paraphernalia were recovered from the suspects and information gained from this operation led to the seizure of two meth labs in Carroll County.

Timothy Allen Rogers, age 41, of 723 North 20th in Humboldt, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

Shana Christine Moore, age 56, of 22 Roberts Road in Lexington, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture. She is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

Jason T. Stephens, age 20, of 301 High Street in Huntingdon, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture. He was released and is currently free pending court action.

Russell Dean Treadwell, age 36, of 1912 Ferell Street in Humboldt, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture. He is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

Joshua Tyler Dawson, age 21, of 319 Thomas Street in Troy, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Deadly Weapon. He has been released after posting a $7,500 bond.

Dennis Ray Jones, age 42, and Rebecca Laurie Jones, age 38, both of 4010 Zion Road in McKenzie, TN were arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture. Both have been released after posting a $10,000 bond each.

Justin Daniel Forrest, age 28, of 66 Humboldt Highway in Trenton, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture. He is being held a the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

Carrie Anne Sansing, age 37, of 414 East College Street in Dyer, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture. She is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

Johnny Benard Lee, age 46, of 320 East 3rd Street in Trenton, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture. He has been released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Michael L. Arnold, age 31, of 418 Burkett Street in Jackson was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture. He has been released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Sherry Gross, age 45, of 55 Staten Lane in Huntingdon, TN was arrested and charged with Possession of a Legend Drug with Intent to Sell or Distribute. She is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

Ira Croom, age 46, of 123 Alexander Street in Jackson was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell or Distribute. He is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

Lekeevis Croom, age 31, of 109 Northside Drive in Jackson was arrested and charged with 2-counts of Possession of Marijuana (4th offense) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He has been released after posting a $20,000 bond.

Joe Dean Mathis, age 52, of 1221 Highway 18 in Medon was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Simple Possession of Marijuana. He is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $12,000 bond and an outstanding arrest warrant from Gibson County.

Jeffery Epperson, age 48, of 3106 Berrywood Drive in Humboldt, TN was arrested and charged with Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Simple Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He has been released after posting a $12,000 bond.

Russell L. Groves, age 45, of 819 Gann Road in Bradford, TN was arrested and charged with Driving on a Revoked Drivers License and Violation of the Registration Law. He was released and is currently free pending court action.

Eugene Wilson, age 38, of 295 Deep Gap Road in Jackson was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance. He was released and is currently free pending court action.

Kevin T. Burkart, age 28, of 5 Whatley Kee Drive in Medina, TN was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving on a Revoked Drivers License and Violation of the Window Tint Law. He is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $5,000 bond and an outstanding arrest warrant from the State of Wisconsin.

Brian Taylor Wilson, age 41, of 625 Highway 51 By-Pass, Apartment 302 in Dyersburg, TN was arrested and charged with Driving on a Revoked Drivers License (2nd offense), Improper Display of Registration Plates, Violation of the Registration Law and No Proof of Insurance. He has been released after posting a $3,000 bond.

Nancy E. Patterson, age 23, of 319 Thomas Street in Troy, TN was arrested and is being held on an outstanding arrest warrant from Jackson City Court.

Jason W. Wilson, age 31, of 25 Shirley Drive in Jackson was arrested and charged with Driving on a Revoked Drivers License and Possession of Synthetic Methcathinone. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond.

Amanda Brittany Siler, age 24, of 55 Greenview Drive in Jackson was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication. She was released and is currently free pending court action.

James Sturdivant, age 56, of 550 Old Hickory Blvd. in Jackson was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant from the City of Milan.

Morgan K. Jernigan, age 24, of 42 Lennox Village Drive in Jackson was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released and is currently free pending court action.

Acting on information gained from this operation, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, assisted by Metro Narcotics, went to 10880 Lexington Street in Huntingdon, TN which is the residence of Danny Ray Ellis. Ellis was discovered to be in possession of precursors, reagents and equipment used to manufacture Methamphetamine. Information was gained at this location which led the investigators to 63 Fireball Lane in Hollow Rock, TN where additional precursors, reagents and equipment were found. Danny Ray Ellis was arrested and charged in Carroll County with 2-counts of Initiation of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture and Conspiracy to Promote a Methamphetamine Manufacture. He is being held in the Carroll County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
