Century Station Welcomes the LASD Motorsports Team
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputies Motorsports team is a youth outreach program organized by deputy sheriffs who, in their off duty time, share a passion for racing competitively and enriching the lives of youths through community involvement. Century Station’s Sergeant Bob Furman is co-driver in the team’s Predator off-road Class 3000 race car.
The various Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputies Motorsports vehicles attract the attention of youths of all ages. Team members promote the value of education to our young people as a means to deter drug and alcohol abuse, violence and gang involvement, and unsafe vehicle operations. They establish a positive interaction between the public and law enforcement through community events, classroom instruction, and competitive racing events.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputies Motorsports team supports and assists youth programs such as the Sheriff’s Explorers program and Sheriff’s Youth Activities League. Team members and their vehicles are regularly seen at various community, school, industry, and charity events around Los Angeles County and Southern California.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputies Motorsports program is privately funded by its members, and with the generous help of various donors and sponsorships, at no cost to the taxpaying public.
