(Oklahoma County) The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a warning regarding a phone call complaint that has been reported by an Oklahoma County citizen. According to the reporting party he received a phone call that displayed the number 9-1-1 on his caller identification. When the reporting party answered the phone the caller identified herself as an Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office deputy and gave the badge number 10455.
The caller went on to tell the reporting party that the reporting party had a fraud complaint made against him in the state of South Carolina, and that if the reporting party did not resolve the issue an Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputy would be sent to arrest him. Fortunately the reporting party was suspicious of the call and contacted the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident.
During the phone call the reporting party was verbally given the phone number of (336) 308-3196. A simple check through Google shows that the phone number is associated with reported scams nationwide. The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office advises if anyone receives a phone call like this to:
• Get as much information as possible (names, phone numbers, street address, etc.)
• Verify/report with the actual law enforcement agency.
• Never release any personal information including social security, banking, etc., over the phone.
