CLINTON MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF CHILD PORN
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III and Town of Clinton Police Chief Brett Matheis announce the arrest of Robert Thomas Escott, age 52 of Clinton, New Jersey for Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (Possession of Child Pornography), a 4th Degree Crime.
According to Chief Matheis, “On September 27th, 2011, Clinton Patrolman Tim McGuire was dispatched to an Old Orchard Court residence for a report of child pornography discovered by an occupant of the household.”
An investigation by Clinton Detective Sergeant Jay Hunter, Patrolman McGuire, and Detectives of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit led to the arrest of Mr. Escott.
Mr. Escott was released on his own recognizance by the Honorable Eric Perkins, J.M.C. of the Clinton Township Municipal Court. He is schedule to appear in Hunterdon County Superior Court on Friday, September 30th, at 1:00 PM.
Prosecutor Kearns stated, “The investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is ongoing. We commend the Town of Clinton Police for their work on this case.”
The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
